I recently wrote a piece for Garland Technology about Software Defined Networking (SDN). I wanted to explore the goals, complexities and concepts surrounding SDN, including some industry leaders who are adopting SDN practices.
Here is a snippet: “I think the primary goal of SDN is centralized control and software-based automation of a dynamic network infrastructure that optimizes performance, security, and cost in an increasingly complex environment. And that last point – an increasingly complex network environment – is going to be the real driver towards SDN, as SDN increasingly becomes the enabler for professionally managing networks.”
